Organizations representing Braddock’s businesses have a history extending back to before the turn of the nineteenth century. The Braddock Merchants’ Association had a full time staff with their offices located at the Carnegie Club around the turn of the 20th century. Not long afterwards, the organization changed its name to the Board of Commerce.
One of the Board’s first actions on behalf of the Braddock community was providing leadership and financial support toward construction of the town’s first hospital. Later, the Board of Commerce became the Chamber of Commerce and its work at promoting Braddock business and community development continued.
